Château de Hocheppan
Le château près d'Eppan a été construit vers 1130 et était déjà considéré à l'époque comme l'un des plus puissants sièges de la noblesse du pays. Après une histoire mouvementée, le château de Hocheppan, bien conservé, est aujourd'hui un témoin impressionnant du Moyen-Âge grâce à sa beauté et à sa magnifique situation panoramique.
Du point de vue de l'histoire de l'art, la chapelle isolée du château, située dans la cour intérieure et dont la construction a probablement débuté au 12e siècle, est le cœur du site. Celle-ci est parfois surnommée la "Chapelle Sixtine des Alpes", ce qui n'est pas une promesse exagérée. Ses murs sont ornés de fresques romanes bien conservées, dont la particularité est qu'elles ne représentent pas exclusivement des motifs religieux. On peut ainsi découvrir, outre de nombreuses scènes bibliques, les "vierges folles", une "mangeuse de quenelles" ainsi qu'une rare scène de chasse.
Auberge du château de Hocheppan
Si vous avez envie de vous restaurer après la visite ou pendant une randonnée, le restaurant rustique du château est l'endroit idéal. S'inspirant des précieuses fresques de la chapelle du château, le menu met l'accent sur les délicieuses boulettes du Tyrol du Sud. On y trouve également des classiques, comme le Brettlmarende et des gâteaux faits maison.
Randonnée au château & tir à l'arc
Le pittoresque château de Hocheppan est accessible par une randonnée d'une vingtaine de minutes à travers la forêt, qui commence au parking en contrebas du château. Il s'agit en outre d'une étape de la randonnée populaire des trois châteaux d'Eppan.
La forêt qui entoure le château de Hocheppan invite à la détente et vous permet de faire un voyage dans le temps au Moyen-Âge qui restera longtemps gravé dans votre mémoire. Le parcours d'arc médiéval à côté du château de Hocheppan y contribue également.
