La route Claudia Augusta commence en Allemagne, plus précisément à Donauwörth, dans le nord de la Souabe. De là, elle traverse la Bavière et l'Autriche pour finalement entrer dans le Tyrol du Sud, au Resia. De là, elle continue à travers le Val Venosta jusqu'à Merano et Bolzano, pour finalement atteindre le Trentin au sud du Tyrol du Sud.
