Tiefroschtn X-trem

On 16 July 2022, this sport event in the mountains of Pfunders already takes place for the 20th time, even though the facts are not really inviting for unhurried hikers: The participants of the run have to overcome 20 kilometres and 1,580 meters of difference in altitude if they want to reach the destination – the Tiefrasten hut (with the best and biggest dumplings within the region).

However, the fascination of this mountain run is probably exactly due to its extreme nature. In the last year quite a lot of participants accepted the challenge and the respective winners covered the distance in about 2 hours and 10 minutes. 

Details of the run

The mountain run starts on Saturday morning, at 9 am next to the Neves reservoir (1,856 m) above Mühlwald in the valley Tauferer Ahrntal. Destination is the Tiefrasten hut (2,312 m) near Terenten. 

Indispensable requirements for the participation in the “Tiefroschtn X-trem” run are certainly the best constitution, sure footedness and sense of orientation. Participants may be registered runners as well as leisure time athletes with a valid medical attendance report. The valuation includes the categories women, men and mixed.
