Grâce à sa situation pittoresque au pied de l'imposant Schlern, le village de montagne de Seis, dans le Tyrol du Sud, était déjà au XIXe siècle un lieu de villégiature très prisé : des membres de la haute noblesse européenne et des personnalités célèbres comme l'écrivain allemand Carl Zuckmayer ou le chef d'orchestre italien Arturo Toscanini passaient des vacances reposantes au pied de l'Alpe de Siusi.
