Depuis le début des années 80, les Kastelruther Spatzen sont déjà sur scène et, année après année, Norbert Rier - sans doute le "moineau" le plus connu - et ses hommes produisent des vers d'oreille musicaux et des CD best-sellers. Leurs chansons sont connues dans le monde entier et, des disques d'or à la couronne de la musique populaire en passant par l'ECHO Award, les musiciens de Castelrotto ont remporté tous les prix importants qui peuvent être décernés dans le monde de la musique populaire. Cela fait d'eux le groupe germanophone le plus populaire de la chanson populaire.
Avec leurs hits connus et nouveaux - "Eine weiße Rose", "Liebe darf alles", "Dolomitenfeuer" et bien d'autres encore. - ils font des tournées dans toute l'Europe. Cependant, ils reviennent chaque année dans leur pays d'origine, et ce à deux dates fixes que tout fan des Spatzen devrait inscrire en lettres épaisses sur son calendrier :
