The family-run 4-star superior Hotel Hohenwart enjoys a sunny hillside setting in Schenna, high above the spa town of Meran/Merano. A retreat that brings together warmth and conviviality, time to yourself and time shared with others. At the same time, a holiday at Hohenwart offers a wide range of experiences: guided walks and e-bike tours take you out into the South Tyrolean countryside with its impressive mountain scenery. Aqua fitness, yoga, Pilates and fascia-focused training bring even more movement into the day. What’s more, Meran, with its promenades, gardens, boutiques, art and culture, is just a few minutes away.

Two spa experiences

At the Adults Only VistaSpa, guests aged 16 and over have three floors dedicated to peace, relaxation and time to themselves. At the very top, the panoramic rooftop terrace features a 34°C infinity saltwater pool and panoramic sauna with daily infusions, all framed by 360° views over Merano and the surrounding mountains. Further saunas and steam baths, relaxation rooms, beauty treatments and massages complete the experience. Families can unwind together in the separate FamilySpa, with an indoor pool, whirlpool, baby pool and family-friendly saunas. Outdoors, the spa experience continues in the spacious gardens, with lawns, peaceful corners and a heated 25-metre outdoor pool open all year round.

Alpine-Mediterranean cuisine

At Hohenwart, food sets the rhythm of the day. Hohenwart’s ¾ board includes a generous breakfast, the afternoon Hohenwart Marende with homemade cakes and savoury dishes, and a five-course dinner in the evening. The cuisine combines Alpine roots with Mediterranean lightness and puts provenance at the heart of every dish. Particularly close to our hearts are lamb from our own Gsteier mountain farm, herbs from our garden and beer from our family-run Pfefferlechner brewery. Vegetarian dishes are naturally part of the menu every day. Our wine cellar holds more than 300 labels, around 80 per cent of them from South Tyrol.

This was my first time staying at Hotel Hohenwart, and I was very impressed. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the pools are beautiful. Overall, a highly recommended hotel!

What a fantastic hotel! We stayed in April with our 2-year-old son. The room was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the hosts were very accommodating. We'd love to come back.

Welcome to paradise??? Yes, one can only say that more is rarely possible in a holiday hotel. Everything here simply fits perfectly, from the host family to the outstanding staff, the fantastic rooms, and the beautiful wellness area. Then there's the gorgeous terrace with the unbeatable scenery. All in all, simply stunningly beautiful. Particularly noteworthy are the breakfast buffet, the afternoon buffet, and the wonderful evening menu with its wide selection of top-quality dishes. Always with a very good wine recommendation. You simply can't ask for more, and we would love to come back soon to enjoy it. Stay healthy, everyone, and we look forward to seeing you again.

An absolutely gorgeous hotel! The location is simply perfect – with breathtaking views over Schenna and the surrounding mountains. The food is outstanding; every dish is a delight. I'd especially like to highlight the incredibly friendly and attentive staff, who make the stay even more enjoyable. For me, the Hotel Hohenwart is my absolute happy place – I return every time refreshed and happy.

The Hotel Hohenwart has a family atmosphere, and I received a very friendly welcome. The rooms are very clean and color-coordinated. The food is excellent, and special requests are fulfilled. The service staff are attentive to the needs of the guest. The reception is always a good contact person. The spa area is spacious and invites you to relax. The Hotel Hohenwart is worth a visit in both summer and winter. Both the entire team and the Mair family make everything possible.

Very nice and super clean rooms, a great breakfast buffet; a delicious evening menu with a variety of options; very friendly staff – always ready to help; hiking and sports programs; a very nice wellness area with saunas and infusions; a 25-meter pool and rooftop pool; all within very beautiful and well-maintained grounds and a view of Merano and Tirolo; nothing was left to be desired!

We felt completely at home at the Hotel Hohenwart. The family-run hotel exudes warmth and offers a fantastic wellness area with a sky pool, outdoor and indoor pools, and numerous relaxation options. The view is simply breathtaking. The hotel also boasts enchanting gardens. Our stay in the suite with its large furnished terrace was a highlight. Add to that the great service and excellent cuisine – we'd love to come back.
