Beautiful hotel with exquisite cuisine, everything very clean, beautiful rooms, and very friendly staff and hosts. A fantastic wellness area with numerous saunas. The outdoor pool is absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend it.

The hotel is located on the outskirts of Merano. You can start hikes into the mountains directly from the hotel. The center is a 20-25-minute walk away, or a 5-minute bus ride away. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help with any questions. The hotel fully lives up to its 4-star rating, with very well-maintained grounds and immaculately clean throughout. There's a great pool and spa area, as well as a fitness room with new equipment. The rooms are spacious, equipped with new furniture, and also very clean, although the interior is slightly dated—if that matters to anyone. The breakfast is ordinary, with no particular surprises, but the coffee is delicious. Dinner left mixed impressions: an excellent salad buffet, but a rather mediocre menu. For my taste, the food was unfortunately quite monotonous and unspectacular. Even now, we barely remember what we actually ate—unfortunately, it wasn't a particularly special experience. What we didn't like: poor internet—there was often no connection at all in the room. We were also surprised that the room didn't offer complimentary water, a coffee maker, or tea-making facilities. After we requested one, we were provided with an electric kettle. During our trip, we celebrated our wedding anniversary, which we had informed the hotel about. Normally, the staff congratulates guests with small gifts (a glass of sparkling wine, a small cake, a card) to create a special festive atmosphere. This isn't practiced at this hotel. Overall, a good, very clean hotel, but the dinner was a bit of a disappointment. In my opinion, you could definitely find something better for this price.

Perfectly located for hiking or cycling in all directions. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel has excellent bikes and even an 11kW charging station for electric cars.

We had a wonderful time and used the hotel as a base for our wine tours in Alto Adige. The hotel service and the evening menus were outstanding. For us personally, the wine list—stocked with all the top names from Alto Adige—was particularly outstanding.

We stayed at the Sonnenburg for a week with two couples and were thrilled. A fantastic hotel with outstanding service. The room amenities (we stayed in the garden rooms with private terraces), the wellness area, the garden with the new pool – everything just fits perfectly. Only the dining room isn't quite as cozy and a bit too brightly lit. But that's our only criticism. We'd especially like to mention the excellent wine selection and the food. Truly very good quality. We had a wonderful week. Thank you very much!

An all-around perfect vacation! Personalized and outstanding service, excellent food with a fantastic wine list, a very well-maintained house, and a beautiful room with a magnificent view. We were particularly impressed by the swimming pool in the garden and the spacious wellness area, which truly leaves nothing to be desired. Thanks to the helpful advice on activities, we were able to explore the surrounding area to the fullest. Highly recommended – we'd love to come back!

On our way to Rome, we're sad to leave Hotel Sonnenburg behind! A little paradise where every detail is meticulously cared for, yet without affectation, with genuine care, dedication, and love. The property was (I believe) recently renovated, so it sparkles like new! The pool in the beautifully manicured garden is very comfortable, with a whirlpool and cushioned loungers. The spa area, like everything else, is spotless and equipped with every comfort to make you feel pampered. A special mention for the culinary experience: INCREDIBLE! The sumptuous breakfast is served on the terrace if you prefer. And dinner...it's like eating at the finest restaurants you'll ever find: sophisticated yet hearty dishes, impeccably prepared and served, always different...try to understand. Another special mention goes to the excellent staff (Renata, you've won my heart, I wish you the best!) and the Wieser family, always so kind and available to offer advice with a smile and good humor. The sadness is also in leaving the people you meet, as well as the place. I'll stop here, but I could go on for hours...thanks for everything, and see you next time!
